Emeralds have been popular since before the time of Cleopatra, but their rich green color made them especially desirable for the Art Deco and Antique Engagement Rings of the 1920's and 1930's. Emeralds are best used when in an emerald cut or square cut shape. It was well suited for the geometrical shape of Art Deco designs. The most beautiful emeralds come from Columbia and are very hard to find and are highly collectable.
