Because of
the extra facetting, and the effects it produces
with light, (because of the precise intricate
cut), Round Brilliant cut diamonds are more
brilliant and sparkly than ordinary square
diamonds. The process in cutting the Round
Brilliant Cut Diamond is a big improvement
over the previous steps that used to be used
to cut diamonds. Round Brilliant Cut diamonds
are more brilliant and clearer them most other
diamonds.
Round Brilliant Cut
Diamonds Have More Sparkle
In the early 1900's, Marcel Tolkowsky, calculated
the cuts necessary to create the ideal diamond
shape, which is now know as the Round Brilliant
Cut. As part of his PhD thesis in mathematics,
Mark Tolkowsky considered variables such as
index of refraction of the diamond and covalent
bond angles to create the perfect diamond
cut for brilliance and clarity. A large table
(over 64%) can really kill the diamond's beauty,
and a stone or diamond which it too shallow
will not sparkle as well as one that is cut
right. AGS defines " Ideal Cut"
as a range of Table diameters between 53-57%,
Crown Angles at 34-35%, Crown Height at 15-16.5%,
Girdle Thickness at Thin to Medium, Pavilion
Angle of 41% with the Pavilion depth at 43-43.5%.
We' are talking perfect alignment of the crown
and pavilion facets, strict symmetry of the
diamond, and a mirror like finish or polish.
If the person who cuts the diamond keeps the
table size in the mid-fifties and depth between
58-62% you will have a fantastic beautiful
diamond, with a quality look. With GIA certificates
and reports you are able to completely qualify
the diamond you are considering buying from
us.
When choosing loose diamonds, or a diamond
engagement ring, there are four things to
remember: the "four C's" - Cut Clarity
Color and Carat Diamonds of the Past, Present
and Future
